Chiang Rai Cultural Tour: Description

Far from the cities of Northern Thailand, there is a remote and isolated world, as removed from the bustle and noise of modern life as you can imagine.

Join Tiger Trail on this unique, special trip in Chiang Rai province; as we travel deep into the beautiful scenic landscape of the country and experience meaningful insight into the culture and lifestyle of the village and tribal people!

We start our journey with a serene cruise down the Kok river in our traditional long-tail boat, before disembarking and travelling to Ban Pong Nam Ron, a remarkable village where four cultures co-exist in harmony; the Lann Thai people, the Yunnan Chinese and also the tribes of Akha and Lisu.

Learn about these people and their different cultures and have the chance to explore, before stopping for a traditional Chinese meal for lunch. After we have tasted some of the delicious cuisine, we will explore a fascinating local museum to gain a greater insight into the people and their history, before visiting the Huay Kaew waterfall; a stunning natural spot to relax and enjoy the spectacular surroundings.

A real highlight of the trip is meeting your home-stay host and being taken back to their house. This is an amazing opportunity to talk with a village resident and take a rare glimpse into a way of life so completely different to your own.

On our second day, its time to get busy! We start the day by learning one of the most intriguing crafts of the local villagers; how to make furniture out of bamboo. We continue this ‘forest’ theme by venturing into the woods to teach you how to gather products from the forest to use for making lunch; before preparing our meal and enjoying some tasty food in the jungle! With tummies full, we then head to a local tea factory to find out more about how this plant is transformed into the drink that we all know and love.

Tiger Trail pride themselves on responsible, ecologically aware travel. Join us for a non-invasive, fascinating exploration of one of Thailand’s most unique cultural villages and discover a way of life that is so wonderfully different to our own.
