Chiang Mai Trip: Description

There are few better ways to spend your time in Chiang Mai than exploring the area by bicycle and visiting some of the regions most impressive temples!

Join Tiger Trails on this lively expedition through ruined cities, fertile fruit plantations and mountainous terrain, as we enter the heart of Northern Thailand and uncover some of its most fascinating history and culture.

Tiger Trails fervently believe that it is much more fun to explore by bicycle, so our first priority is to collect our bikes and head towards the ancient ruins of Wiang Kum Kam. Our experienced guide is on hand at all times to tell you about this once mighty city and its history. After allowing some time to explore, we visit the McKean Rehabilitation Centre, a spectacular complex that is now the home of many disabled people and also houses a hospital, before continuing our bicycle adventure along the pretty banks of the River Ping.

Along the way, we pass through some of the fruit plantations of Saraphi (and get a chance to nibble a few!) and see some of the area’s beautiful Buddhist temples for which the region is famous, before making a break for lunch at Ban Tawai. This will be a welcome opportunity to relax for a while and take in the lively atmosphere of the area, before saying good bye to our bicycles and heading to Wat Doi Suthep for the final part of our experience.

Situated on the top of a mountain, this temple is often on the list of ‘must see’ things to do whilst in the Chiang Mai area. It is a spectacular sight, and the views from the mountain over the land below are jaw-dropping.

If you want to see Chiang Mai’s surrounding area from a unique perspective, and take in some of the area’s incredible culture, then join Tiger Trails on this fascinating adventure!
