Doi Suthep & Hill Tribe Tour: Itinerary
Experience two distinct slices of traditional Northern Thai life, in one unforgettable trip!
Our adventure encompasses two significant symbols of Chiang Mai culture; one of the most renowned Buddhist temples in the country, and the other, a fascinating hill tribe village.
We begin, after collecting you from the door step of your hotel, by travelling to Doi Suthep Temple. Said to have been founded in the 14th century and named after the mountain it sits upon, the ancient Buddhist complex still remains impressive to this day. Together, we climb the 306 steps to the summit (there is the option of travelling by cable car if you would prefer to preserve your energy for exploring!) to gain a spectacular view of the landscape below us.
Many Thai people still make the pilgrimage to the temple, mainly to pay respects to the relics of Buddha, said to rest within the golden pagoda. You will get the chance to experience this stunning piece of architecture and to explore the sights within the temple, gaining a better understanding of the religion and the history of the building.
Our next stop is to the hill tribe village of Hmong. Our tour guide will be on hand to help you converse with the locals and learn about their unique way of life, and we will also have the opportunity to visit their handicraft centre, and purchase wonderful products, such as hemp clothing and intricately cross-stitched products. There is also an enthralling local museum, for those interested in learning more about the hill tribes and their culture.
Experience the ‘real’ side of the region and join us to learn more about the traditional ways of the Chiang Mai people.
Please note: Due to religious beliefs, it is imperative to dress appropriately when visiting the temple.
