    Flying to Samui

Flights are operated out of Bangkok’s main international airport by Bangkok Airways. For times and online bookings see http://www.bangkokair.com

    Flying to Suratthani, then ferry

NB. Bangkok Airways seem to have a monopoly on Samui airport, so rates are often higher than other domestic routes.

One other option becoming popular is that you can fly from Bangkok’s northern Don Muang Airport with Air Asia to Suratthani, which is a mainland port a little way south of Koh Samui.

From the Don Sak pier (which is about 45 minutes drive from Suratthani Airport), there are very regular departures to Samui. Minibus services operate between the airport and pier.

The ferry route from Suratthani to Samui is serviced by several companies including the Raja ferry and Lomprayah Catamaran:

However, it’s worth weighting up the merits of each route. Although you might shave a little off the price by flying via Suratthani, it should be noted that journey time is significantly increased (flight + pier transfer + ferry VS direct flight).
